Photoshop for iPhone Experiment

I was extremely bored on a Sunday afternoon when I should have been more productive...possibly doing something more important than this, buy HEY! It was fun and I think I might tinker with a couple more pictures that I like and see how they turn out...how you like my trial run!

Inspector Gadget..errr....Phil Mickelson's 2010 U.S. Open Press Conference

Like nearly all pre-tournament press conferences, a whole lot of nothing was said. The course looks great, he's swinging good, and worried that the course might dry out by the weekend...U.S. Open cliche after U.S. Open cliche.

Ernie Els Continues Awkward Mustache Trend

Michael Jordan set the bar impossibly high with his homage to Hitler in his most recent Hanes commercial...

...And Ernie Els seems to be picking up where he left off. Seen here today at his press conference rocking what appears to be an awkwardly thin Adam Morrison style trash-stash.

2010 U.S. Open

The hype for the 2010 US Open is building...I thought I would kick it off with a highlight clip of the most dominant performance in golf history. Tiger Woods' performance in the 100th US Open embarrassed 154 professional golfers and killed the wound golf ball. It should be noted that this was the first tournament Tiger pegged a solid core golf ball in the ground. (R.I.P Tour Balata). A fifteen stroke ass-whipping will leave the other guys scratching their heads...ushering in the emergence of the Pro V1 and numerous competitors. Who knew one week in mid June would change the course of golf history?

Knocking The Rust Off

It's been quite a hectic six month hiatus from blogging. Senior level engineering classes and pesky semester projects have kept me pretty busy. This past semester my class mates and I worked on quality control projects and supply chain management projects with the Coca Cola Bottling Company here in Baton Rouge. That was eye-opening experience! The numbers and sheer volume of daily production is astonishing. If you are interested in checking out the results of these reports, shoot me an e-mail. I'd be more than happy to share a semester's worth of hard work with curious minds.

In between projects and cramming for tests, I have made time to think about the future. At some point this summer I'll take the GMAT in anticipation of attending Business School upon graduation. At this point in my life, I can honestly say that "I'm not so sure what I want to be when I grow up!" However, I believe that coupling an engineering undergrad, with an MBA will open many doors and present me with an array of options. I Enjoy the problem solving components of engineering and I also enjoy the way the business world operates and am amazed by the emergence of a global economy. I'll post any updates as they develop!

Most Importantly, The U.S. Open is this week. This kicks off the summer major season. It's my favorite major of the year. I enjoy watching the pro's look like mortals for one week a year. My only complaint is the Chris Berman commentary. If he sends it down to Roger "Chocolate" Maltbie one more time....
I plan on updating the blog frequently with mostly U.S. Open oriented posts this week.

What's in the Bag?

Here's a look at the clubs I'll be gaming to start the year.

What my bag looks like on the outside, nothing fancy, but let's dig a little deeper.

The Line Up

We'll start with the big sticks an work our way down.

~ Driver: 9.5* Titleist 909D2 with a Graffaloy Pro Launch Red X Flex. (65g)

~ Fairway Wood: 13* Tour Edge Exotics XCG 3 wood (Stock Shaft)

~ Hybrid: 21* Titleist 909H (Stock Diamana Blue Shaft)

The Flat Stick: Scotty Cameron Red X Mid Triple Black Sales

I really like the Old School look of the Pom Pom Headcovers.

2010 SBS Championship Picks

Formerly the Mercedes-Benz Championship, the SBS Championship kicks of the 2010 PGA Tour Season. This year's winners only tournament kicks off this Thursday, January 7 at The Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawaii. I look for Steve Stricker's strong play to carry over into 2010. Geoff Ogilvy is the defending champion and has a strong track record at this event. The rest of my picks are basically blind guesses and hunches. It's the first event of the year following a very abbreviated off season. Many of these guys are going to be knocking off rust this week.

Something to take note of this week will be the effect that the new groove rules will have on the players shot selections. I think that the effects will be minimal, but I'm sure the players will field numerous questions concerning the equipment change.

Outside the Ropes

This post may have been poorly timed, given the current state of Tiger Woods' dare I say...affairs (Yikes!...cheap joke at Tiger's expense) but I wanted to showcase a great book with a unique idea while attempting to avoid this level of unintentional comedy. Earlier this fall I finally got around to reading Follow the Roar. This book, written by Bob Smiley, tells the tail of Tiger's heroic albeit abbreviated 2008 season from the fan's perspective. Countless golf books have been written by instructors, journalists, historians, and living legends themselves. More often than not, these books are by shot hole by hole accounts that include every painstaking detail. This book couldn't be further from the norm. Smiley uses his sitcom writing background to convey those memorable moments as he views them through his para scope. Follow the Roar goes beyond just being another golf book that recalls a historically significant season, It also showcases the people and characters he meets along the way as his quest takes him half way around the world.

Below is a clip of a Golf Central Interview with Bob Smiley
